Why regular oil changes matter
Regular oil changes are essential for the health and longevity of your engine. Engine oil lubricates moving parts, dissipates heat, and carries away contaminants — keeping everything running smoothly and preventing costly damage.
What oil actually does
- Lubrication: Oil reduces friction between moving parts, preventing wear on critical engine components.
- Heat dissipation: Oil helps carry heat away from the combustion process so parts don't overheat.
- Contaminant removal: Over time oil picks up dirt, debris, and combustion by-products. Fresh oil keeps sludge from building up.
Signs your vehicle needs an oil change
- Oil change / Service soon light: Many modern vehicles have a reminder system that triggers a dash light when it's time.
- Dirty or dark oil: Fresh oil is amber and translucent. If the dipstick shows dark, dirty oil, it's time.
- Engine noise: Low or dirty oil can cause a noisier engine — a sign not to wait.
What to do when it's time
- Don't delay: Regular oil changes are one of the cheapest ways to protect your engine. Stay on schedule.
- Check your owner's manual: Follow the manufacturer's recommended interval. We typically recommend 5,000 miles or 1 year for most makes and models.
- Use the right oil: Use the correct type and viscosity for your vehicle — that's what the engine was designed for.
- Schedule it with us: Book an appointment and we'll handle the oil, filter, fluids, and a quick visual inspection.
