Understanding your A/C system
When your car's air conditioning isn't blowing cold, it can be miserable — especially on a hot day. Understanding what causes A/C issues is the first step to getting it fixed.
What could be wrong
- Low refrigerant: A leak in the system or low charge can prevent the A/C from cooling effectively.
- Faulty compressor: The compressor circulates refrigerant. If it fails, the A/C won't blow cold.
- Blocked condenser: Debris or damage at the condenser restricts airflow and hurts cooling.
What to do when it's not blowing cold
- Check your settings: Make sure the A/C is set to the coldest setting and the fan is turned up.
- Check for airflow: If there's no airflow at all, it could be a blower motor issue or a blown fuse.
- Schedule an appointment: If it still won't cool, bring it in. We'll diagnose the leak or component and get cold air back.
